Join the Chestnut Hill Conservancy for a guided small group walking tour during Night of Lights by Conservancy board member Richard Bartholomew on Tuesday, October 10, starting at 6:30 PM.
Richard Bartholomew is an architect and city planner whose professional career focused on urban design. A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the American Academy in Rome, he has 45 years of practice, including 25 years as a partner in the internationally known planning and design firm Wallace Roberts & Todd. His work has been honored with six national and eleven state and local awards. Projects include master planning for the U.S. House of Representatives, the Central Delaware Waterfront in Philadelphia, the Anacostia Waterfront in Washington, campuses, research parks, waterfronts, downtowns, cities, and new communities in two dozen states and eight foreign countries. In 2011, AIA Philadelphia honored him with its John Harbeson Award for career achievement, and the American Planning Association awarded WRT its first National Planning Excellence Award for a planning firm.
Starting at the Chestnut Hill Welcome Center (8514 Germantown Avenue) at 6:30 PM, Richard will lead the tour to each of the eight themed slideshow projection sites, ending at the Bone Appetite (8517 Germantown Avenue). The walking tour is roughly one mile. At the beginning of the tour, guests will be given headsets for better hearing/accessibility and offered Boxed Water. The tour will last roughly one and a half hours and end where it begins for ease with parking!
